Call to Order Senate President Oshinski called the sixteenth meeting of the Consolidated Student Senate to order at 4:05 p.m. II. Approval of Minutes #15 There was an addition to the minutes that Phil Horn opposed the approval of the Elections Board members. There being no further additions or corrections the minutes stood approved. IV. Executive Board Announcements A. President's Announcements President Ravenholt read a letter to the Senate concerning the reasons for his VETO of the Public Hearing, and commented on the Conflict of Interest that he believes exists in CSUN. (see attached) He reminded everyone of Carni-Gras this weekend. B. Vice-President's Announcements Vice-President Levins announced that the Library Search Committee, has 4 candidates left, and the first candidate, Loweel Dukrsen will be on campus, March 11&12, she will make an appointment for him to meet with the representatives of CSUN. C. Senate President's Announcements Senate President Oshinski reminded the Senators that the meeting started at 4 p.m. He received a letter from dean Daniels asking for 2 students to serve on the Student Handbook Committee, anyone interested please see Rick. Call your Congressman Day will be held on March 18 from 7 a.m.- 2 p.m. on the 3rd floor in the Humanities Building. John Lujan has asked a representative from CSUN to make a brief presentation on April 28 from 9:00-10:00 for the 4-H Club. V. Executive Board Nominations A. Associate Chjef JUStlce-Tom Foskaris Senator Stalrlin moved to approve Tom Foskaris as the Associate Chief Justice of the Juducial Council. The motion was seconded. The motion passed with 17 in favor. B. Elections Board-Kim McDermot Senator Starlin moved to approve Kim McDermot as a member of the CSUN Elections Board. The motion was seconded. The motion passed with 16 in favor, 1 opposed (Phil Horn). Senate Meeting #16 Page 2 3-9-82 C. Distinguished Teaching Award Committee- Senator Cohen moved to approve Robin Starlin as a member of the Distinguished Teaching Award Committee. The motion was seconded. The motion passed with 17 in favor. D. Appropriations Board-Marie Mullins Senator Starlin moved to approve Marie Mullins as a member of the Appropriations Board. The motion was oKC^nded Th<. mot^ ^ii s u with JJZ. ' VI. Committee Reports A. Appropriations Board Chairman Levins read the mintues of the meeting held on 3-5-82. The meeting was adjourned after Call to order, due to lack of quorum. B. Elections Board No report C. Entertainment and Programming Board Senator Soderquist read the minutes of the meeting held on3-4-82. The following Items were approved by the board: Carni Gras '82 an additional $25 for the sky-divers for insuracne, a motion to all ADPi to sell Popcorn at Garni-Gras Wed, Friday,and Saturday. Motion to approve $50 for the Yell for the layout and printing supplied, which ESP has used over the course of 1981-82 fiscal year. There was a motion to approve. The motion was seconded. There being no further additions or corrections the minutes stood approved as read. D. Organizations Board Chairman Starlin read the minutes of the meeting held on3-4-82. The following items were approved and voted on: The disapproval of CARP remained on the table, and therefore died on the agenda. The Senate gave CSUN recognition to Kappa Sigma, Student Law Association. The motion to approve $750 for the Songleaders was approved, and a motion to table the approval of funds for the Hotel Association. There was a motion to approve. The motion was seconded. The motion passed. There being no further additions or corrections the minutes stood approved. E. Ad Hoc Impeachment Committee Chairman Thomas read the minutes of the meeting held, the following report was submitted: The committee reported to the Senate that the charges that wre submitted did not warrant impeachment of the CSUN President. Senator Thomas moved to approve the report with the following amendment: The following with the consent of the members of the Ad Hoc Impeachemnt Committee is presented as a friendly ammendment. The committee, appointed to investigate the impeachment charges against the CSUN Presiden has found that violations for.-CSUN policy by the President result from errors in judgement and warrant disciplinary action. As these actions do not warrant impeachment, the committee recommends the following reprimand: The lCSUN Senate formally and in written form, reprimands the PRESIDENT based on the finding of the Ad Hoc Impeachment Investigation Commitee.(see attached) There being no further additions or corrections the minutes were approved with 17 in favor. VII. Unfinished Business VIII. New Business A. Nominations for Outstanding Senator Award The following nominations were made: Cathy Clay by Pat Thomas Tony Castanon by Lisa Griffith Nancy Felsing by Ginger Clayton Jimmy Hill by Pam Jacka Ginger Clayton by MaryBeth Nitzschke Senator Starlin moved to close nominations. The motion was seconded. The motion passed with 17 in favor. Senate Meeting #16 3-9-82 Page 3 IX. Open Discussion President Ravenholt commented on the Reprimand, and glad everyone was ? over, it is time to get on to the concerns of the students. Cathy Clay talked about the typewriter situation over ii •the library and a solution is trying to be found, she congratulated Marc Cherise and Lisa Griffith on the Quicksilver Senator Soderguist reminded the Senate of Sally Horn's shower on March 17th. Senator Castanon was upset that the Regent's violated their own laws by not sending an agenda when requested. Senate should put pressure on the Regents. Senator Felsing announced that there were openings on the Radio Board. Sonny Deary informed the Senate that Ebony Magazine Senior Editor, Cyrone Bennett was impressed by the actions of the Senate and his Godfather who is a m§yor in New Orleans. Senator Wild suggested that the students back a fellow students for Regent. Senate President Oshinski congratulated and thanked Brenda Martinez, Rosana Reyes, and Dawn Soderguist for their hardwork on planning the Award Banquet for CSUN on April 1, 1982. He reminded everyone of CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN DAY to be held on March 18. He commented that the Ad Hoc Impeachment Committee did find that President Ravenholt in violation of the charges, they did not feel that their were impeachable charges. X.
