This Clipping from WHERE MAGAZINE NEW YORK, N. Y. CAROL CHANNING, of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" fame, stars in a new show in Hotel Pla&aU~ Persian Room After Dark MORGAN FOURSOME Not one, but four, talented Morgans are to be heard currently at the Latin Quarter, where blonde television star Jaye P. Morgan headlines the Donn ArdgjL "All About Dames" revue, with her three brothers providing some excellent vocal harmonizing. The lovely Miss Morgan appears in numerous different costumes, and likewise delivers varieties of musical numbers, ranging from the light "You Are My Lucky Star" to the jazz beat of "Bill Bailey Won't You Please Come Home." Her brother Duke appears onstage playing the bass in her opening numbers, "Runnin' Wild" and "Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries." Duke Morgan is joined by brothers Dick and Charlie for "Play on Your Harp," "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," "Joshua," and "Nola" (which they recently recorded), with their talented sister providing some dancing and definite eye appeal during the excellent harmony. The Morgan Brothers all play electric guitars as backing for "Let's Do It," the Cole Porter favorite in which Miss Morgan does convincing imitations of Louis Armstrong, Tallulah Bankhead, and Bette Davis. "Detour" and the Bill Bailey number conclude their highly appealing and all-too-short headline act. Justly touted as one of the great pantomimists in show business is Harry Mimmo, the extra starring attraction in the current Latin Quarter bill. His impressions of a typical Englishman, Frenchman, Brazilian, Argentinian, Mexican, Italian, Nazi, and then of Fred Ajtaire, Eleanor Powell, Shirley Temple, and Gene Kelly all bring gasps of surprise and admiration from the audience. His very straight-faced manner and ability to create impressions of people from slight co-tume changes are his major assets, and are very strong assets indeed. Talent galore permeates the whole revue, with expert juggler Francis Bruun starring in a solo number and the famous Latin Quarter singers and dancers appearing in spectacular, beautifully staged production numbers. EARTHA IN THE EMPIRE Eartha Kitt, who is as sly and enticing as a kitten, is currently performing in the Empire Room of the Wal- JONAH JONES i featured at the Et club, The Embers, \^l the horn man ;t Side's popular East 54//; Street MaL?Σ≤%AfSY. She proves her vocal ability in such numbers as "Hell Is a Gamble," "Ain't Misbehavin'," "C'est Si Bon" and./'! Want To Shimmy Like My Sifter-Kate," in which the equally talented dancer does a very authentic 1920-styled shimmy. Miss Kitt's sultry singing is backed by the Emil Coleman orchestra, who also provides dance music between shows, alternating for this with the Bela Babai orchestra. THE CHANNING CHAflM Carol Channing's charm is undeniable, as is currently being proven once again in her Hotel Plaza Persian Room engagement. Teasing the strip- teasers is her forte in this saucy and piquant act, in which she reveals that Sophie Xucier told her "You've Got To Take Your Clothes Off in Las Vegas," and proves that a ladylike and modest strip act can be done behind screens right on the Persian Room stage. It's "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" that she's best known for, and curvaceous Miss Charming proves that she knows all the lyrics for chorus after chorus of this show business favorite, all of which the audience loves. George Bauer accompanies her at the piano, and the Ted Straeter orchestra is on hand for the show and for dancing between times, with Mark Monte's Continentals also doing the dance-step honors.
