WATER PIPELINES Alexandria Doubles Water System Capacity With New Wells and Pipe Lines ^WTHEN water consumption jumped to within a half-million gallons of availability on a hot summer day in 1966, city fathers of Alexandria, Louisiana, began plans for expansion of the municipal water system- Ex- pansion plans which were spurred-to a higher level by a sudden request for water which would more* than double daily capacity of the old system. A combine of paper producers ap- proached the city, asking for 14 mil- lion gallons of water per day more than past consumption. Alexandria?╟╓s system could produce a maximum of r>er dav.
