I agree.For the sixth consecutive year, the Sportsmen's Club of the City of Hope will honor athletes who have contributed the most to 20th century sports. This year, they will present this "Very Special Show" from glamorous and always exciting Las Vegas before a most distinguished and generous audience. Although the emphasis of the program has been to honor the athlete, this year he?╟╓s liable to get his lumps along with his glory ... and instead of being just a recipient ... he is likely to be a participant ... a different kind of "Awards" presentation that reflects the dignity of the occasion,.but also the funny and entertaining side of sports.... The M.C. on this occasion should not be limited to only one person. For this occasion several personalities, prominent in the sports or entertainment field, with a knack for introduction, presentation, and general jive that is unequaled, will be featured. Who comes to mind? Dan Rowan and Dick Martin possibly? Or maybe Bill Cosby with an assist from Howard Cosell? How about Dizzy Dean? The feminine side might be represented by Carol Burnett or Totie Fields. There will also be a full team of guest celebrities to present the awards to these individual stars of the sports world. The list of City of Hope celebrity supporters is long and impressive. A guaranteed Super Bowl event for sponsors with a hunger for Nielsen points.
