WARDNER, Los Angeles CHARLES A. WELLMAN, Beverly Hills M E M O R A N D U M TO ATTORNEYS Dear Friend: You no doubt are aware that serious water problem s confront us in Southern California. We already import m ost of our water from 300 m iles distant and we are looking forward to the day when Northern California water will flow 500 m iles southward. But despite the construction m iracles that make this importation possible, our water supplies are too often taken for granted. There are critical problem s that must be solved, vital issues that must be resolved if we are to safeguard our water interest, as we m ust. The need for an active citizens organization, accurately informed and determined to do something about these m atters is clear. For this reason the Southland Water Committee was fo rm ed . Our m em bership is representative of the civic leadership of Southern California. We are non-partisan and non-profit. May we invite your participation. There is no financial obligation - - your signature on the enclosed postage-paid card will enroll you. Since many of our m em bers have extended invitations to their friends, you may have already enrolled -B if so, would you please refer this to one of your friends or associates. CARROLL R. WEST, Los Angeles
