AL FREEMAN Sands Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada Dear A1: Whenever I have had occasion to book a name act at a fair, theatre, or nightclub where there was a split figure, being a representative, I always made it my business to check on whether or not the artist was receiving every- thing they were entitled to; however^ when you came to Springfield and I referred youto L^Gleason, who has charge of all ticket sales, I did not follow through because I thought you were going to do this. I phoned Mr* Rust, the Secretary, today regarding this and questioned as to whether or not Red was entitled to an overage and he told me that the State of Illinois will never at any time give anyone incorrect figures as to the receipts. Because of politics, it is necessary for them to give away a lot of passes and the figures you got from the auditing department of the State was an accurate report on the receipts for the date that Red worked. With kindest personal regards and best wishes, LBS/t. fl/l E MBER OF CHICAGO ASSOCIATION OF COMMERCE
