( ) * With the promotion of former Light Booth Supervisor, James Trudeau to Head Carpenter, Alex Wallace was recently named as the new Light Booth Supervisor. * The new totally computerized Colortron Light Board is totally redundant and sends out an unbelievable.......60 signals per dimmer..per second. There are...... 315 dimmers in the Ziegfeld Theatre. * There are 170 steps to climb to reach the Light Booth. If a crewman would have worked all 6,000 shows, they would have climbed an unbelievable.......1 million J|0 thousand steps and this doesn't include leaving the Booth for lunch. * During 6,000 shows, the Light Booth crew has replaced an estimated....... 16,500 burnt out bulbs. * The Light Booth crew has to maintain the lighting of over .......... 2,600 lighting instruments. * The show averages ...250,000 watt/hours per show and after 6,000 shows, has used over.........3 million watt/hours of power. This is enough power to light many communities. LOWER ZIEGFELD The Lower Ziegfeld area is located directly below the stage and is under the capable supervision of Oscar Johnson.The crew loads and unloads the elevators and provides for the storage and mainten- -ance of the Circus Wagons and numerous other pieces of scenery. This is the artistic area of the Theatre as numerous props are made and touched up in this area, along with sign painting and numerous other artistic achievements. * The L.Z. area is 119' X 179' for a total of. . .21,301 square feet....just slightly less that one-half of an acre. * The water tank that is located in L.Z. has a capacity to hold......36,000 gallons of water with (3) giant pumps that are capable of pumping up to ......12,000 gallons of water per minute. * The L.Z. area is also the workshop for Entertainment throughout the Hotel and numerous projects are constantly being built on a daily basis by a talented day crew as well as the night crew when needed. Thousands of gallons of paint and glue have been used by these crews during the past 6,000 shows. * The majority of the animals that have been in the show have been housed in the L.Z. and during the past 6,000 shows, we've had enough animals to open a Zoo! We've had Ducks, Chicks, a Cockatoo, Husky Dogs, a white domestic Cat, a full-size Tiger, a Tiger cub,Lions, Leopards, Ostriches, an Elephant, Orangatangs, Chimps, a Baboon, Horses, Doves, Pekingese Dogs, a Great Dane Dog, and several large Snakes.
