    BIOO-Ft^A-FIlY frcxm: *2ZHI\X!$$ RECORDS MAXINE BROWN New York club audiences are a special breed: sophisticated^ discriminating and often difficult to please. It takes a lot to make them sit up and take notice of a performer, a lot of talent and personality to make them storm a fashionable New York club like Shepheard's and break all existing attendance records. But that's just what they did to hear young Maxine Brown, who makes her Epic debut with her single "Seems You've Forsaken My Love" c/w "Plum Outa Sight." Maxine began singing in church choirs when she was a child growing up in the obscure little town of Kingstree, South Carolina. When she was seven3 her family moved to New York City, where Maxine continued to sing in gospel groups. By the time she was in her early teens, she had sung with various rock and roll groups, notably The Manhattans, and was certain that singing would be her career. When The Manhattans broke up ("Some of the guys were drafted" Maxine recalls) she decided to make it on her own.
