He said he believed that Tommy was a fine actor* and auite frankly, a fine young singer* too, who could soon be m the Frank Sinatra class. The predictions oi tbis executive are certainly coming true. Tommy Sands toured Australia and New Zealand recently and broke every attendance record previously set by visiting American artists. In Sydney, alone, 80,000 people Jam* med the Sydney Stadium for six performances. Tbis included teen hundred standees, and, since the houses were full to capacity, another four thousand a day were turned away. It was one of the greatest triumphs any star has ever experienced, and, almost with- out fail, every newspaper critic hailed Sands as a mature, talented performer with few peers. The young singing idol's career has been taking new and exciting turns recently. He has embarked on a night club career, adding one more facet to a career which in- cludes recordings, motion pictures, television, radio, personal appear- ances, song writing and acting. Starting his career at the tender age of eight years, on radio sta- tion KWKH in Shreveport, Louis- iana, Tommy finally was audition- ed by the Kraft Television Thea- tre producers, who were seaching for a young man who would sing, play the guitar and act, in a forth- coming script called ?ǣThe Singing Idol" and, on the fateful night of Jan, 80, 1087, found himself be- fore the cameras, where he was a great success. Tommy Sands has already achiev- ed in a few short years what the California executive predicted, that one day he would become ?ǣone of the greatest stars in show busi- ness." There will be two shows nightly, 9:30 P.M. and 12:15 A.M. The burgundy-colored floor is accen- tuated by the room's primary col- ors of cocoa brown, gold and white.
