I agree.i: Inter-Department Correspondence m Jack Entratter m Archie Loveland Joiect: Melvin Miller Dear Jack: Data September 4, I960 V ring this past week, through the medium of a friend of Buck Harris?╟╓ by the name of Chuck Kalback at Laguna Beach, we were able to participate in the Melvin Miller promotion. I have had several long distance conversations with Chuck Kalback and they plan to fly Melvin Miller and the Marine Captain who started this whole thing on Western Airlines Flight No. 30 to Las Vegas estimated in at 5:15 PM on Wd$tt4sday, September 7. We have already received a substantial plug re- garding Miller?╟╓s coming to the Sands Hotel and Kalback informs me that LIFE and AP are going to be with him when he comes to Las Vegas. It has been suggested that if we would put Melvin Miller?╟╓s name on our marquee along with Sammy Davis?╟╓ as though he were appearing here and then have Sammy introduce him during the evening at the dinner show on Wednesday night that LIFE magazine will use the story, etc. , etc. When I first got into this situation I called A1 Freeman at the hospital and he was enthusiastic about the whole thing but now I understand that he will be too ill to participate.?╟÷?╟÷--- I will be glad to follow through and will appreciate your suggestions. Thelje are a number of things set up for Melvin Miller such as a race named > after him at Del Mar, a bull fight in Tia Juana, a ball game in Los Angeles and an appearance on Truth or Consequences followed by his Sands Hotel appearance.
