She did a sharp satire on.the film colony with a number she called "Be Happy With The Yacht You Got," punctuated by sexy bumps and grinds. Another newcomer to the night club circuit was Mamie Van Doren (right) who opened down the street at the Riviera wearing a $12,000 rhinestone trimmed gown. D. 46.672-S. 84,179 OCT 2 51957 I03JlNW/)9 frosby Weds Kathy In Quiet Ceremony / Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 24 (INS)-Bing Crosby 53-year-old king of the crooners, ended five years of lonelints today by dipping quietly into a Catholic church and marrying Kathv Grant, a slim, brunette screen beauty. ?Σ≤ymg jiathy Thebalding "old groaner" and Miss Grant, who, at 23 is the same age as the eldest of Bing's four sons, were un ted in an unheralded ceremony at E ':?╟÷ - ceremony at St. | Anne s Church in Las Vegas after they had craftily steered newsmen off their trail. None of the sons was present at the wedding. Only two close mends, Leo Lynn and Mrs. Gilbert Banks, stood up with'.he jubilant singer and his demure bride. The ceremony was performed by Monsignor John J. Ryan who told Crosby affectionately: "Now you won't be lone- ly any more." "No," replied Bing, whose first wife, former film dancer Dixie Lee, died of cancer in 1952. The simple marriage mony was followed by a Nuptial Mass at which both Crosby and Miss Grant, who was converted to Catholicism after her: ro- mance with Crosby flowered revived Communion.
