Freeman company PUBLIC RELATIONS Consultant ?╟÷ Federal Civil Defense Administration 4/26 Recommendations for Press Coverage ?╟÷ A-Test - FCDA: Rased on observations made at test site on Media Knob Wednesday morning, April 26, and from comments from newsmen and cameramen, respectfully submit following recommendations to improve working conditions and press coverage for part played by FCDA in Operation Cue: 1. Establish a CAMERA LINE, and mark it plainly, where still and motion cameras may be set up forward of any other obstruction, and to run past the benches for observers. Photographers should be allowed to park their ears in back of their cameras except in front of the benches. Set up a trailer for use of press people in following divisions for better service ?╟÷ use the trailers for the cameramen and writers to relax and have coffee while waiting for the test. Trailer for NEWSREEL CAMERAS Trailer for AP - OP - INP CAMERAS AND REPORTERS Trailers for REPORTERS (will need 2) Trailer for TV and RADIO Trailer for YIP'S (Governors and BS Officials) Six trailers placed in sensible positions around the area observed this morning would make the difference between the press just covering the atom shot or reporting an FCDA operation. 2. Establish and mark an area directly in front of the camera line, not to one side or the other, where any observers, troops, etc, brought back from front line can land by hellocopter and directly into focus by the cameras on camera line. Dse wooden horses to isolate the area from any milling crowd of mixed observers and press which would interfere with photographs of these people thus the photographers can move forward up to the horses, and under a calm direction, can get all the pictures they want before the observers are rushed from one point to another. In the isolated area, set up the microphones for sound movie and TV newsreel cameras, so those media can get coherent pictures and interviews. - more - BEVERLY HILLS, CAL. ?╟≤ 449 SOUTH BEVERLY DRIVE ?╟≤ CRESTVIEW 6-4326 AA. ,-M
