easant hunting proposal 2 of sports page publicity in local and out-of-state media in addition to other advantageous news space are numerous and favorable. The -Sands ?çvali bo prominently ?çiriaep&ayed in all publicity going out to all outlets* Anyone familiar with operating a pheasant hunting ranch knows that 95 percent of them remain in business only one-year due to the resulting financial losses. Fortunate ly the Hidden Hills operation is financially able to continue as it has been in the past two years. At this point, however, the operator feels that it is advisable to have the cooperation of a hotel which it is realized from experience profits very substantially from the patronage of these hunters. In the first year of operation, a total of 5^ out-of-state hunters came to the pheasant ranch facility. In the second year the attendance figure rose to 260, who came here for the purposes of hunting, gambling and enjoy the glamor -of the city. Those hunters paid $10 per bird. This year, with the sponsorship of The Sands Hotel, pheasant hunting will be allowed at a lower rate of 3 birds for $20, attracting several hundred more hunters* In addition to this price incentive and the wider publicity given to the facility in out-of-state newspapers and other media and by direct mail, we will hive over 600 hunters who will purchase pheasant tags exclusively at yoUr casino office allowing them the privilege (without limit bag restrictions) of hunting pheasants at the Hidden Hills preserve. It is our proposal therefore that the hotel exclusively offering and sponsoring pheasant hunting should bear a portion of the expense. This sum should be a negotiated fee of $10,000. This sum is only 25 percent of the cost of the pheasant operation and is small in comparison to the profits that will accrue to The Sands, which offers pheasant hunting to these spending sportsmen.
