OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK CITY OF LAS VEGAS, CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA. JULY 8th, 1938 Minutes of a recessed regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas held on the 8th day of July, 1938 at the hour of seven o'clock P.M. Present Mayor Marble, Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow, City Attorney and Clerk. Absent Commissioner Perry. Minutes of previous meetings read and approved as read. Mr. Riddle appeared before the Board and ask that permission be granted him to park one sight seeing car at the front entrance of the Apache Hotel. Said car to be used for sight seeing purposes only and not to be used as a taxi. On motion of Commissioner Krause seconded by Commissioner Luce it was moved and carried that permission be granted to Mr. Riddle to park one car infront of the Apache Hotel. That this permission was granted only by having the application approved by Mr. Russell Prop. of the Hotel. That in granting this permit the Board revoke the premission previously granted the Grand Canyon-Boulder Dam Tours, Inc; for parking of a car at said location in view of the fact that said company had not made use of the permit granted. Vote Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Luce seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that bids for tires received and opened at this time be handed to Commissioner Ronnow with instruction to purchase same. Vote Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. Mr. Claude Mackey, of the Local W.P.A. office appeared before the Board at this time with plans for the purchase of pipe to be used at the golf course in the sprinkling system. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the Purchasing Clerk be instructed to issue a purchase order for the purchase of pipe to Crane Company in the sum of $3,507.00. Same to be used at the golf course. Vote Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Krause seconded by Commissioner Ronnow it was moved and carried that the Clerk forward to the Local W.P.A. office copies of forms numbers 710 and 710A covering Materials in the sum of $1,926.76 and $125.00 for labor. Vote Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Luce seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the Mayor sign the general information sheets in regard to P.W.A. Project No. 1052 covering street improvements and No. 1053 installation of sewers. That C.D. Baker City Engineer forward same to the District office. Vote Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the resignation of H L. Perry, Commissioner be accepted as of this date. Vote Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. Mayor Marble then presented the name of A.L. Corradetti to the Board for its approval as to appointment as commissioner to fill the vacancy on said Board caused by the resignation of Mr. Perry. Vote upon the appointing of Mr. Corradetti to the Board of Commissioners was as follows: Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Krause seconded by Commissioner Luce it was moved and carried that a retail beverage license be granted to Charlie Williams. Vote Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Luce seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that J.W. McMichael be granted a retail sealed package liquor license for 117 Carson Street at the Market Spot. Vote Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Krause seconded by Commissioner Ronnow it was moved and carried that all gaming and slot machine licenses applied for be issued to the following persons or associations: Silver Club, Boulder Club, Northern Club, Sal Sagev Cafe, Berkley Bunker, Jimmie Fulcher, Modern Market, Overland Cafe, Lena Testolin, Sal Sagev Tavern, Apache Cafe, Apache Bar, White Spot Cafe, Grace Bates, C.L.Hennon, Professional Pharmacy, J.M. Sill, W.E.Ferron, J.K. Houssels, Tip Rowe, Fremont Tavern, J.H. Hulsey, Apache Casino, Overland Hotel, Boulder Drug Al Salton Town Barbecue. Money on file with the Clerk covering these several applications. Vote Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. City Clerk's report approved by the mayor. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that Commissioner Luce purchase wire from the Standard Sanitary Mfg. Co; as per bid just received from said company. Vote Commissioners Krause, Luce and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none.
