    A regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada held this 7th day of March, 1956 was called to order at the hour of 7.40 P.M. by His Honor Mayor Baker with the following members present: Mayor C.D.Baker Commissioner Wendell Bunker Commissioner E.W.Fountain Commissioner Harris P.Sharp Commissioner Reed Whipple City Manager A.H. Kennedy City Attorney Howard W.Cannon City Engineer George E.Wade Planning Director Franklin J. Bills City Clerk Shirley Ballinger Absent: Asst. City Mgr. R.W.Notti This being the time set for the public hearing on the appeal of the granting Of the Use Permit to Lloyd H. Skrenes to maintain an off-street parking lot on Lots 1 and 2, Block 2, Maryland Tract No. 2, His Honor asked if there was anyone present who wished to speak on this matter. Mr. James C. Young representing Mrs. Olga Shields appeared before the Board. Mr. Young stated that he was also appearing on behalf of Mrs. Jeanne Houssels who represents the owners of Maryland Park Manor. Mr. Young urged the Com­mission to deny this use permit. Commissioner Bunker moved the appeal be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. This being the time set for Paul Faulstich, masonry contractor to appear and show cause why his license should not be revoked for faulty construction in Charleston Heights Tract No. 3, Mr. John Yoxem was present representing Mr. Faulstich. Mr. Yoxem advised the Commission that his company would make all the necessary repairs in order that the chimneys in this tract will come up to the Code. He stated that the steel for this construction had been purchased and de­livered to the job, but had not been put in place. Thereafter the Paul Faulstich Company was granted 90 days to complete this work. Mr. Sam Lionel, representing the Burns Construction Company, general con­tractors for Charleston Heights Tract No. 3 was present at this time. The following property owners in Charleston Heights Tract No. 3 appeared and objected to the construction of their homes: Rex Breese 5310 Evergreen Robert Baldwin 5313 Evergreen George Berkhardt 5413 Evergreen Mrs. O'Brien 5621 Herron The Commission requested that the Building Department submit a report every meeting as to the progress that Bums Construction Company is making to correct the deficiencies in this tract. This being the time set for the opening of bids for the construction of Stage I of the Outfall Sewer, bids were received from the following firms: CHARLES J. DORFMAN HALLMARK CONSTRUCTION CO. LONGLEY CONSTRUCTION CO. N.P. VAN VALKENBURGH CO. WELLS CARGO INC. STATE WIDE PLUMBING & HEATING CO. VIDO ARTUKOVICH & SON, INC. & NICK BEBEK B. PECEL & SONS, INC. Commissioner Bunker moved the foregoing bids be referred to the Director of Public Works for tabulation and recommendation. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Com­missioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. This being the time set for the opening of bids for the construction of the Fire Alarm Building, bids were received from the following firms: LEMBKE-CLOUGH & KING SHELTON MILL & CONSTRUCTION P & C CONSTRUCTION CO CLARK CONSTRUCTION CO. J.A. TIBERTI CONSTRUCTION CO. BEN O. DAVEY CONSTRUCTION CO. SIMPSON & MATHER SIERRA CONSTRUCTION CO. Commissioner Fountain moved the foregoing bids be referred to the Director of Public Works for tabulation and recommendation.
