PLaza 9-3 September 29, 1958 Mr. A1 Freeman Freeman Company, Publicists 9508 Wilshire Blvd. Beverly Hills, California Dear Mr. Freeman: In reference to your letter to Mr. Miller in regard to the Sands Hotel ad alterations, we have only two alternatives. We could mortise out the lower right area of cities and tele- phone numbers, reset the copy, and make a new reverse line cut. Note that "New Orleans" does not appear in your engraving. This necessitates the resetting of the cities, as well. How- ever, in doing it this way, a white line would result between the two elements when we patch this new line cut into your engraving. We could avoid this white line by eliminating the reverse effect-in other words, by having the cities and telephone numbers print black on the white mortised area. This is the most economical and best solution of the problem. If neither of these is satisfactory, the only other solution would be to make a new complete plate. In any case, we could not make these alterations in time for the November issue. Please advise as to your preference in handling the alterations for the December issue. lours truly, >\x - fel sis( Brendan Wood Production Manager EW:er cc: B. J. Miller C. Vaxer
