Now open- in the Trop's new Cabaret, "Let Me Off Uptown", presents an original cast that will sing their way into your memory. :This new musical tribute salutes Duke Ellington, Errol Garner, Fats Waller, Dinah Washington, '."?╟≤ Nat Cole, Lionel Hampton, Louis Armstrong and more. Two shows will be presented nightly at 10 p.m. and 12 midnight with a special 2 a.m. shojv on weekends. * *?╟≤*.-;'-~ QProduced and directed by Lenny and Mickie Martin, "Let Me Off Uptown" is staged and choreographed by Folies Bergere Master, Jerry Jackson, with music presented by Terry RyanT]- One of the most gratifying performances in the musical salute to jazz is that of Doris Troy. She is probably best known for "Just One Look" which she wrote and recorded and was later utilized by Mazda for their major television-radio ad campaign. Throughout England, parts' of Europe and the United States, Ms. Troy is reputed as Mother Soul and one of the great American lady jazz singers today. / * v^V;.^ 'Ms. Troy's singing career is highlighted by major appearances in every major' city in the United States and she has toured in the company of such celebs as James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Neil Diamond and the Rolling Stones. "v -u - - Doris Troy pays her own homage to the jazz sound of yesteryear with her pounded out version of Dinah Washington's "What A Difference A Day Makes" and Nat Cole's "Route 66". Featured in the other main spotlight of "Let Me Off Uptown" is , Bobby Wade, best known for his 12 years of legendary performances as a "member of the world-famous Little Anthony and the Imperials. After Little Anthony parted from the famed group in 1975, it was. 'i Bobby Wade that took over as lead vocalist and business -manager and led "The Imperials" down a successful road that included a hit tour of the United States, England and Japan producing two No. 1 albums in the process. A show biz veteran for 18 ~ years, Wade has now come full circle utilizing all of his years of experience to become a solo artist once ' again. His rendition of the ?╟≤ (Continued on Page 15)
