George Albright, Chairman Gentlemen: lb K^ *0 With the construction of the Clark County Convention Center moving steadily towards completion by about February, 1959 ?╟÷ only ten months away ?╟÷ we urge you to reevaluate the present promotional and solicitation program on this most important single step forward ever taken by Clark County. We feel that the $4,500,000 Convention Center project should be operated, promoted, and managed under your direct supervision, and that it should be announced and promoted thruout the world with every resource possible ?╟÷ and immediately, If we are to fill it with conventions as soon as it is open. To that end, we urge you to consider the plan of setting up your own CONVENTION BUREAU which would handle the following important functions: 1. Preparation of promotional material announcing the availability of this fine Convention Center as of the target date?╟÷ this should include brochures. Convention gits, sailing pieces, etc. 2. Solicitation of national, regional, sectional, and other large groups for conventions in Las Vegas. 3. The servicing of such conventions while here. 4. The promotion and publicity on such conventions before, during, and after their actual Las Vegas meeting. 5?╜. The management of the Convention Center building itself ?╟÷ scheduling of events, maintenance of the installation, improvement plans for the future. We recommend this CONVENTION BUREAU be located right In the Convention Center building, and that it be headed by a Coordinator to be retained by your Board, and working with an - I -
