& FTR' 2 1 lVo7 Permit to L, ¥. L. & W.Co, fo r us# o f streets &M alleys fo r wa mains and pipe lines at Las Vegas, Nevada, Los Angeles, February 21, 1930, Mr, W. 1, Bracken: I have your le t t e r of February 19 re la tiv e to the above, with, copy of portions o f ordinance 126 adopted September 3, 1927, fo r origin al townsite, this ordinance was termed an emergency ordinance, and was a permit that was insisted upon and strenuously urged by the re sidents of Old Town, and reluctantly acquiesced in by the Las Vegas Land & Water Co,, which accounts fo r the lib e r a l terms provided by the city fo r the in stallatio n and maintenance of fire p lu g s. The City Commissioners evidently tightened up subsequent to that date, as the Hawkins Addition, South Addition, and a ll of the new subdivisions that have la id pip© lines and secured permits, Grandview in p articu lar, which was the last ordinance, carry the same terms as the permit now proposed to be granted Las Vegas Land & Water Company, On February 19, a fte r going over the situation with Mr, Jackson, I submitted to Leo a suggested amendment to Paragraph IV, and i f we can get the same terms in regard to in stallatio n and maintenance of fir e plugs as was granted in the CM Town permit, i t would be very d esirable, but we should take care that in our endeavor to secure more favorable terms fo r an amendment t© Paragraph I f , the balance of the permit, and p articu larly Paragraph V II, is not changed. Get in touch with Leo and work the thing out as best you can. FRM-MK cc Mr, A. S. Mr, F. H. Mr. R. L. Mr. Leo A Halsted^ Kni eke rbo cker Adamson McHamee F. R. McMamee
