A pair ??ay list up to three (but no more than three) non-standard bidding agreements. (For example, Blackwood is standard; but Stayman or Weak Jump Oversells would be listed and each would count as one of the tkhee deviations pirmitted.) The idea is to give the game back to the amateurs* This feature would have tremendous appeal to heme bridge players all over the country* Otherwise, the strict laws of Rubber Bridge would apply, according to the published book of laws* All rulings of the tournament judge ere final and binding* Details of Qualifying Sessions: The field will be divided Into sections of convenient size (for example, 10 tables per section); and the Judge will ?╟úseed** each section by assigning the players of known ability to different sections to the extent reasonable* Other players will be assigned to sections by lot. Within each section, each pair will play a short match against 1$ of the other pairs of that section* Special matches will be arranged by the Judge if dropouts make It difficult or impossible for a pair to play enough other pairs in its own section. A match will consist of 6 hands of ordinary rubber bridge. If a hand is passed out, it is redealt by the same dealer. At the end of six hands, a bonus of 300 points Is awarded for game In an unfinished rubber; and 50 points for a part score in an unfinished game. Honors count, as usual* Each score's side is totalled at the end of six hands, and a win counts as l point, a loss as 0, and a tie as % point for each pair* The top half of the field, based on number of game points earned (l point pet win, % point per tie) advances to the Knockout Rounds. The bottom half moves Into the Second Chance Tournament. Details of Knockout Rounds; Hatches In the Round of 128 (if any) and in the Round of 64 will be 8 hands each. In the Round of 32 and the Round of 16, matches will be 10 hands each. These will be played on the third day of the tournament. On the last day of the tournament, the Ronnd of 8 will be 12 hands; the Round of 4 (semifinals), 16 hands; and the Round of 2 (finals), 24 hands?╟≤ Scoring is the same as the first two days.
