Air Mail Service Mr. A1 Freeman Anyway, we would propose something along the line of a Miss s ome thi ng-or-other of Australia contest. First prize, of course, trip to The Sands and Hollywood visit. You, in turn, could possibly promote an opposite contest in Las Vegas with your winner going to Australia. (Your Miss Nevada in the current Universe competition could really do a job for you and they would go wild about her down under.) This is all talking-out-loud or thinking-out-loud Al, and depending on what you might think, along these lines (and, of course, how deeply youi would want to go financially and otherwise) I assure you that we can get something rolling as big or small as you want it. From the MGM International viewpoint, I know that we would use our facilities wherever needed - theaters and drive-ins (we have a couple of huge ones in Australia now) for distributing entry blanks, advertising, etc, etc*, studio visit and so forth. You and I could make up a color theater trailer announcing the contest which we would screen at all our Australian houses. This would narrate about the project, show beautiful shots of the Sands Hotel and Las Vegas and the studio. We would tie it all in with some picture. The one thing where I would be in trouble - and I might just as well be frank and clear about it with you from the start - is that MGM would frown on expenses where we are concerned. I speak of any heavy items such as transportation, hotels and that sort of thing. This is especially true just now what with the wave of economy moves being made throughout the company. Anyway, we can offer valuable services and facilities to all co-sponsors and I feel that maybe we can work out something. All of this is something we should talk-over. I am planning on taking my vacation sometime wifthin the next four weeks. I am planning to take my wife to Las Vegas at least for a few days and I will be sure and let you know and if you have time we can talk over any ideas you may have. In the meantime, I would be pleased again thanks for wishes Al. and
