Movements will be con+roMed by a unique computer with "edit and compile" capabilities. This moans that each and every movement can be re-programmed individually until every move is satisfactory. Editing can be done selectively at any time through an encoder-decoder device. The equipment also includes a professional real-to-real tape playback, amplifier, and interface equipment. Adequate cable for remote operation is also included. As an example of the interplay between characters that is possible, we have developed the foI Iowing comedy by-play: As the Clown Band is playing vigorously, the trombonist hits the accordionist (in front of him) in the back of the head. The accordionist's head bumps forward, he stops playing, and turns slowly to the trombonist and stares at him. The trombonist shifts his stance and turns toward the clarinetist in front of him. The accordionist turns back and resumes playing. Now the trombone slides forward and hits the back of the clarinetist, causing his entire body to tilt forward. The clarinetist stops playing and turns slowly around, staring at the trombonist, Who shifts his stance toward the accordionist. This sequence repeats one more time. But the third time around, the accordionist, who has been swaying sidewise gently, rocks to the side an an extreme angle so that the trombone misses him. A second time, the same thing happens. Then the trombonist turns toward the clarinetist.
