April 14, 1953 MUrn*i oRn* PsL.*o iAfdiao msRoanilroad Company Los Angeles, California Dear Mr, Adamson: Referring to your request that I Investigate the possibility and feasibility of divorcing the Railroad Company facilities from the 16-lneh and 24-inch pipe lines, which will be sold to the ‘Water District, and secure water supply for the Rail­road Company and P.F.L. CompanyIfran the shop well in advance of erection of a 300,000 gallon storage tank and construction of a new well, I have discussed this problem with Division Engineer, Jurdin, and Mr. Mel Anderson and the following suggestion is made on the basis of the following data: (Dlh&t existing shop well will produce 520 G-.P.M* at l40 ft. draw down as indicated in 2 page report attached to Mr. ¥. W, Smith’s letter of June 24, 1952 to Messrs. Ashton, Adam&on, Corey, Bybee, Haag, Anderson, Keane and Scott. (2)That the maximum peak demand for RR Company facilities and P.F.E. Company would riot exceed capacity of well pump. However, if this peak demand did actually exceed well pump capacity, even for a short time, this excess demand could be satisfied through the 10-inch connec­tion to 24-inch main on power house line which would have to be equipped with a check valve in the 10-inch line at connection to 24-lneh main.
