August 1, 1958 Mr. Jack Entratter Sands Hotel Las Vegas, Hotel Dear Mr. Entratter: Your position in the Battle of the Bust is ad- mirable! Stick to your guns! If we had a few more decent thinking people running the shows in Las Vegas like yourself our town would stand a fair chance for survival. Before the stinking Minsky shows came to the Dunes we had a healthy outlook pertinent to the pros- perity and growth of Las Vegas. The main fault lies with our laws and the Sheriff dept. If the Minsky show had not been given the green light by the law, we would have had a good clean town today, instead of a hotbed of indecency. It is com- monly known by law-abiding citizens, and religious groups that the Dunes today is nothing more than a house of ill-repute, frequented by thieves, con-men, gangsters, and husbands without wives looking for a stray. Burlesque shows in other cities are on the wane. The latest is New Orleans where the strip joints have all been cleaned out by the law. If this type show persists here we can just resign ourselves to the fact that good people with families will think hard and long before deciding to settle here, which can result seriously in curtailing our progress as the world?╟╓s foremost entertainment and tourist center. Stay with your convictions. There are plenty of decent folks behind you. I have tw'o teen-age children and I shudder to think of the influence of rotten shows. Amy dje Voot
