By RALPH PEARL SUN Columnist Donn Arden, who we tabbed 10 years ago as being "a rich man's Flo Ziegfeld," unfolded his latest edition of "Pzazz '70," a million dollar extravaganza, last night at the Desert Inn before a highly re- sponsiveiaudience of VIPs and press. This edition, a rousing, vigorous cavalcade of song and dance started with an opening salute to Las Vegas, then proceeding delightfully and spectacularly to San Fran- Cisco, Beale Street, Chicago, St. Louis and Hollywood, is Donn Arden and his utterly talented gant at their absolute best. The concluding Cotton Club finale is a rip snorter. For as many years as we can remember on the Strip, producers of musicals coming to Las Vegas always popped off to anyone who'd listen that Broadway was the next stop for their show. In nine cases out of ten their shows would have had trouble making it to Broadway in South Dakota or Arkansas. This current blockbuster, "Pzazz 70," is truly the kind of musical, spoofing daz- zler that could work the "real" Broadway in New York and knock the theater lovers on their derrieres because the late Ziegfeld in his rosiest years, couldn't have generated such hoopla and constant entertainment as was served up last night at the Desert Inn.
