I gambled and lost (joyously) that Miss Page would ; sing a few bars, at least, of her one-time phenomenon, I "Doggie in the Window." With Rocky Cole, her long-time pianist-conductor in charge of the orchestra, Patti sparkles in a stage reprise of her latest recording, "All the Time," and some sprightly Broadway show tunes. "Born Free," "Up a Lazy River" and "Tennessee Waltz" are familiars on the repertoire. Howard Storm provides some laughs in the comedian's spot. Next at the Fremont: Frankie Laine, Oct. 26. Down the Strip about five miles, the Tropicana has signed Jane Russell, Connie Haines and Beryl Davis to make their Blue Room debut starting Oct. 27, according to entertainment director Maynard Sloate. The comely trio played the Riviera twice in the past, once with George Burns and 1 once with Louis Armstrong. The girls recently completed a tour of the Orient and stopped off in South Vietnam to entertain the troops. The New Vaudeville Band opens in the Blue Room next Friday. Comedian Herkie Styles makes his bow as a Vegas headliner at the Aladdin Hotel, sharing top billing with the old pro Billy Eckstine. Styles broke into show business with the Kenton, Goodman and Herman bands, then established himself as a stand-up comic in Miami Beach, New York and Washington, D.C. Besides telling the jokes, he peps up his act by playing piano and drums. ?╟≤ "Miss Succotash" returns to the Flamingo Thursday.
