June 15, 1353 Hon* Hugh Shamberger State Engineer Careen City, Nevada Dear Hugh* I transmit herewith for filing the original and one copy of an application on behalf of the Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Company for permission to change the point of diversion of water heretofore appropriated under Permit No* 7200, Certificate No* 1631, from what has been commonly known as Well No* 1 of the Railroad Company in the City of Las Vegas* , i am sure you are acquainted with the fact that the Las Vegas Land and Water Company and the Railroad Companies have entered into a contract for a sale of both the water production facilities of the Railroad Companies and the water distribution facilities of the Water Company to the Las Vegas Valley Water District* Among other things, the contract expressly reserves to the Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Company Certificate No* 1631, recorded in Book 6, Page 1631, Issued to the Los Angeles A Salt Lake Railroad Company, authorising the appropriation of 8*5 cubic feet of water per second for railroad and domestic use* The contract further provides that the Railroad Company may apply for a transfer of the point of diversion of this water right to a point within the railroad shop grounds, and specifically to the existing shop well or such new wells as may be drilled within the boundaries of the shop grounds* The Las Vegas Valley Water District in said contract consents to such change of the point of diversion and the said district further agrees not to protest the proposed change covered by the enclosed application* fh** Hathbun has net yet completed the map which he understands is required to be filed in your office within sixty days after filing the enclosed application* However, he has assured m that an appropriate map will be submitted to you in the very near future and I assume that you can then commence such publication and notice as may be required*
