TELEPHONE: L April 16, 1958 Mr. A1 Freeman Public Relations Director Sands Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Al: From bits of information in national columns and occasionally on TV I have heard your name mentioned and always made a mental note that when the time came when I would plan a trip to the Far West, Al Freeman would be one person I would get in touch with. It doesn't seem possible that you have teen departed from Philadelphia for so many years. Apparently you have met with real success in Las Vegas. Certainly you have made a national name for yourself in the business of publicity .exploitation since you left the City of Brotherly Love. I don't know whether I had closed my own business and joined Lewis & Gilman before you left, but since 1950 I have been with the above- named outfit as vice president and director of public relations. One of our clients is Wyeth Laboratories, which you will recognize as one of the top five pharmaceutical manufacturers in the United States. The annual meeting of the American Medical Association will be held the latter part of June in San Francisco. On our way to San Francisco we have decided to spend some time in Las Vegas and Palm Springs, hence this long, overdue letter. There will be two couples, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Withington and me and my wife. Mr. Withington is vice president in charge of promotion of Wyeth. We will arrive in Las Vegas the evening of Friday, June 13, and stay until Monday morning, June 16. We certainly hope it will be possible for you to make reservations for us at the Sands for that period. We want to participate fully in all the activities that go on at the Sands and in Las Vegas while we are there and it would be most helpful if you could let us in on the know. Naturally, I particularly want to impress the Withingtons since they are esteemed clients as well as very close personal friends. I know you have just the right touch for this kind of thing.
