The meeting was called to order by the chairman, Patti Hester, at the AmeriSpite Hotel The following agenda items were discussed and agreed upon for the 1998-99 calendar year:
1998-99 Calendar of (events
- Mardi Gras Ball -- will be held January(30/1999 at the Rio Hotel. The time is 8:00 p.m. to 1:00. Ticket willve distributed at the November 7th meeting. Each soror will be asked to sell 3 tickets or more. Responsibilities were assigned at that time. Musical entertainment will be from

Rites of Passage
The committee discussed and agreed to host a Rites of Passsage program Ar girls age 13. The program will consist of one monthly meeting hosted each committee to address our national targets and prepare the girls for the future. The program will begin in January and complete in June with a ceremony during Juneteenth. Alpha Phi be asked to provide the
escorts for the girls. The ceremony an ethnic theme. Further
fee given later.

Jazz, Wine and Cheese
The committee is planning an afternoon function. More

Dinner Cruise
Plans h« been discussed but not finalized regarding a dinner cruise on Lake Mead. More details later.

The meeting was called to order by the chairman, Patti Hester,^Her home at 10:45 a.m. The following agenda items were discussed and a consensus was established. -

Selection and Criteria for the Mardi Gras King and Queen
The committee agreed due to time constraints for the 1999 Mardi Gras Ball, to choose a couple from the sorority for king and queen. The general membership will-be provided a ballot to nominate two other names at the December 5th meeting. The nominated couple will be announced and crowned at the Mardi Gras ball. Criteria will be established to include others and/or community leaders for consideration for the 2000 ball if voted upon.

J History - The history of Mardi Gras will be printed on rolled parchment paper and placed on the table as party favors. This will be completed by Kaweeda Adams, -Ina Dorman and Donnyss Rucker.
S Introduction of Members —The Mistress/Master of’Ceremony introduce sorors during intermission. Program format for the M.Ciffif be designed by Shirley CarroB Members will do a SIMPLE AKA stroll after introductions and lead the Second Line Dance. Members will have Mardi Gras umbrellas to carry. is asked to bring
featured mask. New members and those financial members that did not receive masks will be provided featured masks.
J Table Program Place cards - Place cards with Mardi Gras definitions and supporters will be completed by Jacki Brown for each table and guest.
S Proclamations - Shirley Carroll, Donnyss Rucker and Kaweeda Adams secure proclamations from the city for presentation to Theta Theta
Omega.
Timelines and Responsible Persons - Invitations will be sent, to organizations two weeks before the ball by Marian Bums, Annette Craighead and ft Russell. Corporate invitations will be sent three weeks before the ball by Shirley Carr® 'Pre-printed returffilabels were distributed to Annette Craighead and Marian Bums.
J Master/Mistress of Ceremony - Juana Hart has been asked M.C. unavailable, Eric Adams or Dr. Gourrier be considered.
E" Money Collection - Patti Hester, Shirley Carroll, Sandra Bass, Rhoda Anderson and Tina Rimmey will collect money. A specialjarifmeeting will be held January 9th at 2:30 and immediately after the meeting to collect money and any unsold tickets. A final collection of outstanding monies and tickets will be at Patti Hesters’ home, 3670 La Junta Dr., January 15,1999 from 6:30 to 8:00. Information will be included mW the January Tea Talk to inform sorors of the collection times

VERY IMPORTANT!!! To cover anticipated expenses and receive a profit, all sorors will be responsible for selling FIVE (5) tickets.

will furnish corsages for and queen, Basileus,
and Ways and Means Chairman.
S Guest Gifts - The design the medallions was approved by the 400 medallions and 60 umbrellas will be ordered by Patti The medallion inches in diameter, with an ivy leaf in the center. The top will have Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the bottom will have Mardi Gras Ball. Through the center will be inscribed Theta Theta Omega. Half of the medallions will be pink with green and the other green with pink. All beads will be green.
S Souvenir Pictures - Photos by MeMe will be provided again at no cost, sorority.

Attire - Ball attire is FORMAL please.
V Advertisement Russelkwill have press releases tojffie newspaper and radio stations in December and January. SM will also request time on Larry Weekly or Pat Cunningham’s (KCEP) radio shows. Ads will be placed in the Sentinel Voice and First Friday for December and January. Lisa will Mo secure television spots on Lillian McMorris’ show and Lee Morris Vshow. Other community shows are being researched for possible press times.

- Annette Craighead has donated 50 business cards as a door prize The Pink Door Floral Shop, located in the Harrison and Ross complex on Las Vegas Blvd, will be used as a ticket distribution center.
There being no further business to conduct, the meeting was adjourned at 1:30.

Subject: Mardi Gras Ball Ticket Sales
We would like to thank you for donating your facility and time for the placement of our tickets. We have left twenty (20) tickets at the cost of $60.00 each for a total of $1200.00 and a flyer for you to post in a conspicuous location. The Mardi Gras Ball will be held on Saturday, February 7, 1998 from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a m. at the Rio Hotel and Casino. The last day for anyone to purchase tickets is January 21, 1998. I will contact you prior to January 21, 1998 as to arrange an appointment so that I may come by and collect the remaining tickets and any money collected for purchased tickets.
