Lae Vegas, Hevarts, May 21, l$2b Mr. F.H. Knickerbocker, ©«»iera! !3&nagev, Union Pacific Systeaa,LA&SL BE Go., Loo Angeles, Calif. Bear Sir* Yesterday I mo tap at Bljg. Spring In company with Engineer iieK.ee and George ilarcUaan of the Kev&da State f&ier Pepartasent, who were ssMsig Measurements of the three spring® and the well. 1 herewith attach a copy of i&r,±.ksl«e*a re* port to Engineer *f*P. Hack concerning the swe, which shews quite a material decrease in the flow of our water, especially & that of the well. SMs decrease wa® very notiooatole a few week® ago when a well drilled on acreage northwest of our springs was brought in at a flow of apprex&tiately 110 ainex^s inches. Hesse Zina ago in conversation -with Chief engineer Howard Umm we tailed of bringing the waters of what is imown a® the “Little Cpriug* over to the settling basin, but as we at that time apparently had plenty of water for dosaestic us© this was not done, but in the face of our increased population and owing to the fact that we are now using all the water during a portion of the day which goes into the settling basin, 1 believe we should imediately lay a pipe line frors the little spring to the. settling basin* !Ms little spring, m shown by yesterday*® weamrressmts, «uwi«<* 5minor** inches of water and this undoubtedly will be sufficient for any domestic and railroad purposes during this Stawaer. It is a known fast that unless we keep the head of the water up to or flowing out of the spillway of the settling basin it will not reach the top of the softening tank in the shop yards. The little spring is already boxed in with good cesaent walls and the expense of running a pipe line from there to the settling basin, would not be very great and I would like to reeemseztd# if possible, that we do this work sometime during the Month of June to enable us moot my eisergonoy that Might arise* Yours very truly.
