For the fourth consecutive year, the Sportsmen?╟╓s Club for the CITY OF HOPE will stage the Sportsmen?╟╓s World Awards banquet and honors presentation, honoring great athletes of yesteryear from around the world. The award is in the form of a handsome gold statuette -- VICTOR -- which portrays an athlete in triumphal salute. Men and women whose athletic achievements and exemplary conduct on and off the fields of athletic competition, who serve as inspirations to gain greater achievements to all generations, are selected for this honor by a National Selections Committee composed of more than one hundred leading sports writers and sportscasters across the country. The Committee is headed by W.R. (Bill) Schroeder, Director of the Helms Athletic Foundation, and Los Angeles aportscaster Chuck Benedict. 1969 Award Winners: "Slingin?╟╓ Sammy" Baugh, Don Budge, Peter De Paolo, Paul Endacott, Bob Feller, Sammy Lee, M.D., Ted Lindsay, Lloyd Mangrum, Rocky Marciano, Cornelius "Dutch" Warmerdam, C.K.
