I agree.Michael North Agency Artists Manager 188 NORTH CANON DRIVE BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA CRestview 4-0766 i J Mr. Jack Entratter THE SANDS HOTEL Las Vegas, Nevada December 12, 1962 Dear Jack: re: ALLENTOWN FAIR 1963 Allentown, Pennsylvania (Red Skelton) I am outlining the pertinent points relative to the current dis- cussions with respect to Red appearing at the Allentown Fair - September 17th through 21st 1963, inclusive* This, incidentally, is not only the largest Fair in the State of Pennsylvania, but is also the largest Fair in the East, from the standpoint of grandstand attractions. Red would appear for the five (5) days (consisting of a late matinee and evening performance on each day)?╟≤ A firm offer has been made for Red, consisting of a $60,000, guarantee against 60% of the gross. Red to furnish only Don Ferris as accompanist and conductor, and the Fair to furnish all other elements, including the acts in the package, similar to those we utilized last summer, subject to your and/or Red's approval. 1) The Fair has an advertising budget of $50,000., of which a large portion is allocated to publicize the grandstand show. 2) The local Union requires the Fair to hire a minimum of 21 musicians to play the show (possibly 20 in addition to Ferris). 3) Welk and his orchestra and entertainers, consist- ing of approximately 45 people, played a similar 5-day engagement at this Fair in 1961, and grossed approximately $175,000. Welk played the same engage- ment and dates this year and grossed $158^000. His guarantee was $50,000. for the 5 days ^against 60% of the gross (Continued)
