JESSE H. JDNES Publisher 1926-1956 JDHN T. JDNES, Jr. President THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE ST IN HOUSTON-FIRST IN TEX August 22, 1958 Dear Al: Received your wire this morning and was glad to hear the girls arrived okay. I certainly hope that you and Jack are pleased, with them and that they will do as well as the girls from here last year. I suppose they are set in a place to stay until they get their "feet on the ground11. And I hope they give you a minimum of trouble. I think they are sweet girls and will try to learn the show routines. If anyone can teach !em I know that Miss Stewart is the one that can do it. She's great. If you can get the date that you mil will be down here next month, Al, let me know ?· so that I will have ttbme to write all the girls and set up the interviews. Since the publicity on the three girls who went out, the rest ate getting really ANXIOUS. When you get the rehearsal pictures, x^e might be able to get Joan and Joyce showing the newcomers a step or two, or as you suggested, maybe a backstage thing. When Jerry Lewis gets there, msyfee a picture with him and the girls, or anything you might think. By the way, Al, who do you have after Jerry? I notice in Variety that Judy Garland has been signed for Oct. 1. Who follows her? And will^that he the show the other Houston"girls will open with? (The one after Judy, I mean.) Al, I want to thank you for everything you have done for the girls and for me. Mr. and Mrs. Laufman said they were treated royally at the Sands - and I thank you ^uch for the attention they got. Mr. Laufman said he met Jack and had a good visit with him. Lorene sends her regards and we are both looking forward to your visit here. Tell Jack and the rest of the folks howdy for me.
