The Graduate Advisor attends the Greek Advisor’s Council meetings. The greek housing
proposal has received the support of Dr. Harter. Phase two of the plan is in progress to gain
support for the proposal from the greek community. The majority of the greek community as a
whole must commit to 20 bed spaces. If this is not agreed upon, greek housing at UNLV will not
become a reality and it is believed the issue will not be brought up again for years if ever. Pete
Glass is compiling an NPHC informational brochure to mail to all African American students for
the Fall 2001 semester.
The 11th Annual Aids Walk was completed with participation from 6 members from Kappa Xi
and 2 members from Theta Theta Omega. An extra special thanks to Soror Grace Mills for
taking the time to participate in the walk, but more importantly to interact with the
undergraduates. In addition to the $75 dollars donated by each chapter, the sorority was able to
donate $465 to AFAN.
Soror Ashley and Soror Natalie will be the delegates for Kappa Xi at the Regional Conference in
June. The Graduate Advisor has been asked by Regional Director, Soror Diana Shipley to
present a workshop at the Graduate Advisor’s Training Institute at the Regional Conference.
The essay and poetry contest for KO Knudson School is currently underway. The first activity
for the mentoring component is planned for May before Kappa Xi members leave for the
summer.
One of our new sorors, Jazmyn Good who was reported ill previously was unable to return to
classes to finish the semester. Soror Jazmyn had to withdraw from classes. Doctors are uncertain
as to her illness. Our thoughts and prayers are with Soror Jazmyn.
