Page 16 le cannot tax the individualfhotel for the few people that support, comparatively speaking, the Chamber of Commerce and the Lavewire Fund because some of us have had a pretty rough time coming up with this money, witness the Dunes. Mow, we feaybe two months behind today, but we've been in this thing almost five years. Since I?╟╓ve been here we?╟╓re only two months behind and we Mil collect that ?╟÷ ours has been a sacrifice ?╟÷ you cannot Come to us and say the kind 0f money that it takes to make Las Vegas go must come proportionately from your hotel. I think we're all taxed to the limit in that regard and I think this committee has got ti devise means to go out and get the kind of money it takes to do the job and until that time we?╟╓re all just going to sit around here and be talking and arguing with >#ther because there?╟╓s no way to go. HARVEY DIEDERICH: It?╟╓s your opinion than, that the torfHUla_^oulA.?╟≤ not be updated? Is that correct? M f ?√ß?√ß |||! FISHER? No. I don?╟╓t limit that to the formula. Even if the for- mula were-updated theoretically it would help, if the Dunes paid the Jjwp months in arrears that it is now in arrears, it was four just a ^^ScUple of weeks ago, if we paid that up, that wouldn?╟╓t eliminate the problem. If all the money coming in were now on the table in the link, and we had all of the Chamber of Commerce money to boot in our fund, we would just barely be able to do the job that we?╟╓re supposed VS?½ be doing. A community like San Francisco hears we build a Conven- tion Hall, they vote a million dollars for the year. Well, what are >e counteracting with? We talk ab ut w?½ have $800 bucks extra of ~t|1oo and anything comes up of a sizeable promotion where are we on ih?½ National Scene as a result as regard our promotion ?╟÷ our exploeta- -fion ?╟÷ our advertising? Nowhere l Because there?╟╓s no money. It?╟╓s not to critisize our own groups The money is not there, there- fore we can?╟╓t do the job. Feeling this sense of frustration we sit down and take in each other?╟╓s laundry and wind up going home mumbl- ing to ourselves and come back two weeks later. This has been %inqon for four and one half years with me, 1 don?╟╓t knovy how the est of you fellows feel about it. || M|i B HARVEY DIEDERICH? Any further discussion on finance? Who else? HANK, KOVELL? It doesn?╟╓t make sense to me, that a hotel w&ich can add convention halls and rooms and other facilities, assuming that we have to raise money thru an increase in this formula, can?╟╓t meet their obligations. Now, I don?╟╓t know if in re-evaluating that you have to use the same basic rate per room and rate per slot machine and rate per crap tabl*;, maybe those can be lowered. What with an over-all view toward increasing the contribution from each hotel I think not that it can?╟╓t come thrua resort hotel and the sasinos ?╟÷ I think if must. LEE FISHER? But you see, Hank if everybody met the formulas as long ago as three years ago, right up to the time we still wouldn?╟╓t be in good shape today.
