John H. Farley ATTORNEY AT LAW 620 ROANOKE BUILDING MINNEAPOLIS 2,MINNESOTA May 5, 1958 Mr. 41 Freeman e/o Sands Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Al: Enclosed are three copies of each of three suggested plugs received from John Mortland which he has requested I submit for your consideration. John tells me that on the record which you were good enough to send me some- time ago, all of the plugs run from 25 to 30 seconds and that he feels that this is about the shortest time within which the message and the personality can be gotten over. However, it has seemed to me that if we could get your friends in the entertainment field to give us plugs along these lines (having each make three or more plugs if possible for variety's sake) that that would be of inestimable help to us in selling that first loaf. As I told you on the telephone Rex Holly at Fargo would very much like to have a suggested brochure or the story of the bread for use by his sales' force at the time of introducing the loaf and we have felt that this story would be best told by you. We today received the sixtieth reply to the questionnaire which we mailed out. This one seems to have given expression to a thought which we have all had but which we heretofore haven't quite captured on paper, namely, its quality of toasting all the way through and the peculiar quality of sweet- ness which the loaf has. While we have been very gratified at the response to our initial marketing effort, I would like again to express to you the thought that a real plug in Cedric Adams' column and the plugs which your friends in the entertain- ment field might prepare and permit us to use on the air would be invaluable and would probably result in a volume of business frankly we didn't dream possible when we started. If we could follow up our present efforts along the lines we have discussed, I believe that we might come somewhere near realizing the fondest hopes of the Sisters and yourself and your friends for their project. Please remember us kindly to the Sisters when you see them, and ask them to please keep up their prayers as their prayers and your kindness and enthusiastic co-operation is help that we will always need. I hope that the plaguing cold and flu has worn itself out for you. JHF-H Enel. t
