    From Your Editor...
I don't think it is too late to wish each of you a Happy New Year! I don't know how others felt, but I left our January meeting feeling that we had survived a difficult 2002 and were now pulling together in a real spirit of sisterhood and determination to make 2003 a great year, doing great things. I can remember officers begging members to participate on committees and projects. Our committee and project sheet showed more members participating and even asking why their name was not on a particular committee. We can only accomplish our goals and objectives if each member is willing to roll up their sleeves and give of their time and talents.
Let's keep this spirit up throughout 2003!
    Happy Valentine's

    Scholarhip Committee
The Public Education Foundation which we began a partnership las year will continue to facilitate the dissemination of our scholarships. Our partnership with the foundation cuts down on meeting time, expenses (mailing, copying, etc.) and assists with a smooth transition ensuring students receive their funds.
We now have the possibility of receiving matching funds from the Ronald McDonald House Charities. We had hoped to award $5000 in scholarships. Our partnership with the Ronald McDonald House Charities would enable us to give $10,000 in scholarships as they will match dollar for dollar what we give. It is crucial that the Mardi Gras Ball and Souvenir Journal are successful endeavors.
The Selection Committee Meetings will be held on March 24, 2003 through April 25, 2003. You will be informed of the meeting dates and time. May 2, 2003 through May 20, 2003 is the time frame in which recipients and non-recipients will be notified. The Foundation sponsored awards presentation is tentatively scheduled for May 21, 2003 - location TBA. June is when the scholarship funds will be distributed to colleges and universities.
The 2003 TTO Scholarhip Committee includes Sorors Kaweeda Adams, Ouida Brown, Domini Calloway, Darlene Hancock, Dennell Hoggard, Rosilyn McCann, Amanda McWilliams, Edna States, Willia White, and Gwendolyn Gates Bardett. Soror Sharon Savage is the chairman of the committee.
    Ways and Means Committee
The committee is seeking gifts for the Mardi Gras raffle. If Sorors have contacts with corporate sponsors for comps to shows, day at the spa, airline tickets, rounds of golf, bowling, a car, electronic equipment, etc. Please use your resources to help make our fundraiser a success.
    Arts and Humanities Committee
