Published eight times a year September 25, 1959 Mr. A1 Freeman The Sands Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Als I just wanted to follow through with a note that will put in writing how we would like the Sinatra pictures handled. I know you will use the best photographer in Vegas who is available and you are aware, too, that we want pictures with vitality and a certain naturalness rather than stiff, formal portraits. These are fashion shots, in other words, not publicity stills. As for the clothes, we want to select two outfits. Mr. Entratter wore two sport coats, really?╟÷even though one was a blazer, it is still considered a sport coat?╟÷and I think it is usually better if we have two different kinds of clothing worn by the personality photographed. These two pictures will be opposite each other on a two-page spread?╟÷something the photographer has to keep in mind. In other words, if we take one picture of Sinatra in a sports outfit, the other picture might be a suit or an evening coat or if one picture is a sport coat, sport shirt and slacks, the other picture could be a knit shirt worn with an unusual sweater. The best pair would be some one dressier outfit, probably a suit and the other a sports outfit, whether a sweater, sport coat, or suede outercoat, or whatever he has with him on the trip that seems inter- esting. We should pick the two items in his wardrobe that look like they will be most interesting and most effective photographically. A suit with a glen plaid or some pattern naturally photographs better than a solid color suit. It will be up to the photographer and you and Mr. Sinatra to pick out the two outfits that should make the best two pictures. Sinatra can dress a little loud and we want to watch that?╟÷in other words, no cheek shirt worn with a plaid jacket or anything that might be considered loud taste.
