Las Vegas, Nev. Sun (Cir. D. 25,983 - S. 25,694) JULJJL1969 Mens P.C.B. K??< """ _J^ I 'p-r ' >& 70 . ~3 A Must ^arEveryone (Continued from Page 1) laieatre on Broadway that could do justice | to this Donn Arden musical walloper. Buge Madison Square Garden or Lincoln* Center would be the place for "Pzazz 70" a if it ever gets away from the Desert Inn. In order to keep his franchise on violence, Arden snidely slips in his Chicago production number that'll be a conversation piece for months to come. Talk about musical mayhem, this flash back to the brothels, gin peddling, homicidal nos-_ talgia of the Windy City in the Roaring 20s would have made even that city's dishon-! orable citizen, Al Capone, run for safety., Especially at the close when the set goes up in a small sized "conflagration" that can be heard in nearby Boulder City. There is a staggering amount of talent on display in this edition of "Pzazz 70." Shapely Sheila Sparr makes the wails buckle as she belts, broods and suffer* excitingly through a couple of ballads in "San Francisco." Kiki Paige, Penny Pryor, Jeanne Costa and Bobbi Hill sing Glenn Miller, Les Brown, Tommy Dorsey and the great Duke. Ellington, that is. Lillian DoHonau does a skin peeling Ruby Keeler while Betty Vaughn, Loretta-St, John ajgp charm with the dulcet tones.,in the daMtfce-vdepartment, the savage, spec-. tacularlV ciirvaceous Jacqueline Douget and partners Nick Navarro and Bernard.. Charey, "supported by the rest of the ] swinging guys and gals, positively convert . the ancient Charleston, Tango and Lindy hop set by their lid flipping brand of terp- sichore. Adding the icing to this mammoth layer cake of pleasure are the exciting sing- ing lads, Barry Monroe and Ed Whiting, juggler Montego, the dancing Little Step Brothers, light bulb swallower Marvin Roy and the comedy star of "Pzazz 70,' Will Jordan, a delightful mimic with a 4 well balanced act who almost makes "a career out of being the first guy to do a devastating take off on Ed Sullivan. The Carlton Hayes orchestra turns in its usual superb musical backgrounding. We must conclude, as we stagger happily out of the Desert Inn at the.close of this show, that if you don't catch this Donn Arden "Pzazz 70" at least a hai dozen times or more, then you can't pgs- sibly love the American Flag, Mother and apple pie. Even "Pzazz 70" producer Frank Sennes, who generally has to submit to extensive therapy after ju? Arden million dollar epic has almost taifpM the hotel's till, wiped .Iway/a few tlais and smiled as th&/contented first nfghters ; give their seal of approval at the close oi\y the show. .jt' Las Vegas, Nevada Review-Journal (Circ.
