% f BY SCRAP mON Am STEEL HEAD Beautification Bill Is Supported The president of the national Institute of Scrap Iron and Steel has pledged full support to the beautification bill signed into law by President Lyndon John- son on Thursday. Harry S. Marley of Syracuse, N.Y., told delegates to the in- stitute convention that the new bill ?╟úshould receive our sup- port and assistance,?╟Ñ during a session at the Sands Hotel where the convention is being held. Marley, who was called on for advice during both Senate and House of Representative hearings on the measure, said the scrap iron and steel pro- cessing industry was prepared to immediately move forward with a plan to improve plant and yard sites. The new program, entitled ?╟úProject Greenscreen?╟Ñ will be conducted on a national basis with the accent on fencing and landscaping. ?╟úTo insure that we?╟╓re going at this in the proper way, we have enlisted the aid of the American Society of Landscape Architects,?╟Ñ Marley said. ?╟úAl- ready a great many members have begun formulating plans for dressing up their property and getting grass and trees un- derway.?╟Ñ Continuing on the topic of beautification, Marley agreed that many persons are not real- ly aware of what a scrap pro- cessor does. ?╟úIt seems that much of the public believes we are the peo- ple who have acres and acres of old automobile hulks stored along highways and in car graveyards,?╟Ñ Marley said. ?╟úAct- ually, as far as we are con- cerned, we wish we did own these hulks so we could process them and send them to the mills.?╟Ñ
