I agree.Mr. Freeman The Pageant of Peace (including the Christmas tree lighting ceremony by the President) and the Summer Jubilee are two additional activities which are handled by the Greater National Capital Committee of the Board of Trade. There is very little expenditure of funds with the Pageant of Peace because of the cooperation from the National Park Service, the power company, and some other groups. The expenditure for the Summer Jubilee is approximately $10,000. In the event you would like additional information as to how the Board of Trade handles these promotions, you are welcome to write to Mr. Austin Kenny, the Assistant Manager of the Greater National Capital Committee, at the Metropolitan Washington Board of Trade, 1616 K Street, N.W., Washington 6, D.C. Two other communities which have promotions along these lines are Minneapolis which holds the Summertime Aquatennial, and St. Paul which holds a Winter Carnival. In each instance, the Chamber played an important role in the creation of these activities, but the activities themselves are now sponsored by a separately incorporated group. Information concerning the amount of money expended is not known to us, but I'm sure you can get it by writing to Minneapolis and St. Paul Chambers of Commerce. We make no attempt to accumulate a list of the various promotions engineered by chambers of commerce, so Ifm not able to enlarge upon the information included here. This limited amount of information will be starter, and in the event you feel we can help you further with additional information, please write me immediately. You have our best wishes for every success with the chairmanship of your Promotion Committee?╟≤ cght^avens, Manager Local Chamber of Afommerce Service Department cc/Arthur Motley Cedric Olson
