M ZIEGFELD - 2 do Ziegfeld justice, until he spotted Entratter. In honor of the accasion, Entratter invited the six ex?╟úFollies girls to the opening, wined and "dined them in much the same manner as in the old days when stage-door Johnnies rolled the carpet out for the glamorous beauties. The ex-show girls loved every minute of it ?╟÷ ?╟÷ but claimed they made more money than today's chorus girl ?╟÷ including, of course, the "gifts" their stage-door Johnnies brought them. The girls also admitted the girls of today Wore much more clothes onstage than they did --- and they attribute this fact to the reason why there aren't so many stage-door Johnnies waiting out back todayl They also boasted they worked much harder than today's girls -?╟÷ whereas the 1954 Ziegfeld Girls only did 25 minutes onstage, the older girls revealed they used to parade, swirl, wink, and curtsy a full 80 minutes onstage in the old days! The Ziegfeld Girls, old and* new, couldn't wait to get together after the show at the Sands and in good old-fashioned girlie bull-sessions, they told the new girls a few facts of life! For instance, Gladys Gardner (FOLLIES 1913), and the oldest girl present (57 years), tried to show some of the new girls they were smiling wrong at the ringside customers.
