Vear Se.ncrf.oi Hecht, It was due to an unfortunate situation in my own congregation that I was unable to attend the Machanaim Awards Vinner honoring you on October 25, 1987. I have a congregation of approximately one. thousand families in Smithtown, Long I A Zand, New York and almost each year on our annual. pilgrimage to Israel, I take the group to viAirf. the work of our esteemed Rabbi ShoZom Vov Wolpo. As a mat-ter of fact, several priests, ministers and Franciscan Brothers from our own community here in Smithtown have adopted children in hij> program. 11 has reaZZy been a suc-cess in building spiritual bridges. I want to personally thank you for lending your name and support to an institution of this caLibre. I have shared your support with the membete of our own congregation and on behalf of our entire membership, I want to express to you our sincere thanks, and appreciation. With best wishes to you and your family for years of continued good work, for blessings of health and with good wishes for a joyous Thanksgiving. Sincerely, Rabbi Elliott T. Spar ETS:jf P.S. It sure would be nice if our own Senators in New York could be made aware of your support and your involve-ment.
