Commissioner Moore moved that the application of William B. Lyons, Checker Cab Corp. for a replacement taxicab license be granted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker moved that the application of Sutton Vending Service for a license for the retail sale of Cigarettes and Tobacco products at the El Patio Hotel, 115 North 2nd Street for the 4th quarter of 1949 be granted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE DISPENSING OF GASOLINE; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND ALL OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO, was reported on favorably by Commissioners Bunker and Whipple and thereafter read in full to the Board for the first time. Commissioner Whipple moved that the above entitled Ordinance No. 393 be adopted. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE NO. 354 OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO TRAFFIC AND REGULATING THE USE OF THE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; CREATING AND DEFINING PARKING METER ZONES; PROVIDING FOR THE DESIGNATION OF INDIVIDUAL PARKING SPACES; DEFINING AND PROVIDING FOR THE INSTALLATION, OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF PARKING METERS; PRESCRIBING PARKING TIME LIMITS; REQUIRING DEPOSIT OF COINS FOR THE USE OF PARKING METERS AND PARKING METER ZONES AND PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION AND DISPOSITION OF SUCH COINS; PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT THEREOF; DEFINING OFFENSES AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES; AND PROVIDING THAT INVALIDITY OF PART SHALL NOT AFFECT THE VALIDITY OF THE REMAINDER; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH." Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor "Voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Moore moved that the application of the Pioneer Club for a Retail Tavern Liquor license be denied on the grounds of the existing resolution limiting liquor licenses. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. This being the time set for the opening of bids for the purchase of equipment and material purchased by the City from the City Iron Works, bids were received from the following firms: Acme Machinery Company Los Angeles, California Nevada Iron & Metals, Ltd. Las Vegas, Nevada Commissioner Moore moved the foregoing bids be referred to the City Manager. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time Mr. Vic Whittlesea of Whittlesea Blue Cab Company appeared before the Board requesting that his cab stand at 1st & Fremont Streets recently given to the Union Cab Company, be returned. After discussion was held, Mr. Whittlesea was informed that he would be given a hearing to show cause why this cab stand should not be revoked when the rest of the items on the agenda for this meeting have been taken care of.
