REPORTEDLY TO APOLOGIZE FOR SATURDAY MORNING'S FRACAS, AND SET OUT IN SEARCH OF CARL COHEN TO WHOM HE ALLEGEDLY WANTED TO DIRECT HIS APOLOGY. THE WITNESSES SAY SINATRA FOUND COHEN IN THE HOTEL'S GARDEN ROOM RESTAURANT AND BEGAN BERATING THE CASINO EXECUTIVE. ACCORDING TO WITNESSES SINATRA THREW SEVERAL PUNCHES AT COHEN...BUT THE LATTER DODGED AND PARRIED THE BLOWS. THEN THE SINGER REPORTEDLY PICKED UP A CHAIR AND STRUCK COHEN ACROSS THE SHOULDER. A SPOKESMAN FOR SINATRA IN LOS ANGELES SAID TODAY, "WE CAN'T DENY ANY OF WHAT HAPPENED IN LAS VEGAS." THE SPOKESMAN ADDED: "THERE WERE TOO MANY WITNESSES... I HAVE TO ASSUME THAT IT'S ALL TRUE WE CAN'T EVEN DENY THAT HIS TEETH WERE KNOCKED OUT." MEANWHILE THE NEVADA STATE GAMING CONTROL BOARD HAS ASSIGNED AN INVESTIGATOR TO LOOK INTO THE INCIDENT. THE STAFF INVESTIGATOR IS UNDER INSTRUCTIONS TO GATHER FACTS SURROUNDING THE REPORTED PUNCHING INCIDENT. BOARD MEMBER WAYNE PEARSON SAID: "THIS IS FROM A STANDPOINT OF LEARNING WHAT IS GOING ON, AND NOT FROM A STANDPOINT OF TAKING ANY ACTION."
