CITY PRINTING - Union Label TRANSFORMER - 10th & Charleston SEWER CONNECTION Wilbur Clarks' Desert Inn FUTURE PLAYGROUNDS CEMETERY LAND ORDINANCE NO. 395 Biltmore Bonds TAXICAB STANDS Mr. Dick King, Printer, appeared before the Board relative to a motion made on June 7, 1943 requiring a union label on all printing done for the City, Mr. King explained to the Board that it is impossible for him to obtain a union label since he has a "one-man shop". Thereafter Commissioner Moore moved that the motion of June 7, 1943 requiring union labels on all printing done for the City be amended to exclude this requirement of "one-man shops". Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following votes Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time a report from the Planning Engineer relative to the Transformer located at 10th & Charleston was read to the Board, stating that the Transformer was installed without a Building Permit and in violation of the Zoning ordinance. Commissioner Bunker moved that the Southern Nevada Power Company be notified to appear before the Board to show cause why this Transformer should not be removed. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following voter Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The following members of the Advisory Board were present at the meeting to discuss the request of Wilbur Clark to connect his Desert Inn Hotel to the City sewer: George Franklin, Sr. Robert Kaltenborn Mike Gordon Lorin Ronnow Ralph Hensinger J. A. Tiberti Discussion was held and the Advisory Board suggested that the City enter into an agreement with all the hotels obtaining sewer service that are located outside the City limits and include a cancellation clause. Also that the charge for this service be higher than those charged hotels in the City. The City Manager was authorized to negotiate with Wilbur Clark to enter into this agreement. The Advisory Board agreed with the Board of Commissioners that in planning for future park playgrounds there should be several large parks instead of a number of small parks. The Board requested advice from the Advisory Board on the acquisition of land for the Cemetery. The Advisory Board agreed that land should be acquired in the very near future and suggested obtaining land east of the present Cemetery. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE AUTHORIZATION AND ISSUANCE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS BILTMORE STREET LIGHTING IMPROVEMENT BONDS IN THE AGGREGATE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF $12,528.56 TO COVER CERTAIN UNPAID ASSESSMENTS HERETOFORE LEVIED AND CONFIRMED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING FOR THE WORK OF MAKING IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS BY INSTALLING COMPLETE STREET LIGHTING UNITS WITH PARKWAY CABLE AND ORNAMENTAL STANDARDS ALONG CERTAIN STREETS AND PORTIONS OF STREETS IN SAID CITY AND MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED IN THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT AS CREATED BY ORDINANCE NO. 318, AND TO ISSUE AND SELL THE BONDS OF THE CITY OF IAS VEGAS THEREFOR, SAID BONDS TO BE KNOWN AS BILTMORE STREET LIGHTING IMPROVEMENT BONDS AND PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION OF THE SAID UNPAID ASSESSMENTS BY DIVIDING THE SAME INTO TEN (10) ANNUAL INSTALMENTS AND PLACING SAID INSTALLMENTS ON THE TAX ROLL OF CLARK COUNTY AND COLLECTING THE SAME IN THE SAME MANNER AS STATE AND COUNTY TAXES ARE COLLECTED BY LAW, AND OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO, was reported on favorably by Commissioners Bunker and Peccole and read in full to the Board for the first time. Thereafter Commissioner Bunker moved that the foregoing entitled Ordinance No. 395 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time a hearing was held on the revoked taxicab stand permit of Whittlesea Blue Cab, located at 1st & Fremont. His Honor stated that he felt the City Manager had no authority to revoke this permit. Commissioner Moore agreed. Commissioner Peccole moved that the City Manager be instructed to rearrange all taxicab stands on a more equal basis at the end of the quarter. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and lost by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker and Peccole voting aye; noes, Commissioners Moore, Whipple and His Honor. Commissioner Moore moved that Mr. Whittlesea be given back his taxicab stand for the fourth quarter of 1949. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Moore, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, Commissioners Bunker and Peccole There being no further business to come before the meeting at this time Commissioner Whipple moved this meeting adjourn until December 7, 1949. Motion seconded by Commissioner Moore and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none.
