This is without a doubt the most expensive show ever put together by anyone along the nitery circuit. No one will attempt to equal or duplicate this show. The cost is estimated close to $1 million. Arden, as creator and director, has just completed his 19th year as stager of shows at Desert Inn and Frank Sennes is in his 20th year as producer of shows here. They are the top combination when it comes to molding spectaculars. They have all the know-how. Following this pillar's tip of using as many newcomers as possible, Arden has extended himself to giving youngsters a chance of a lifetime. Edward Whiting and Barry Monroe, a singing duo, will be making their first major stage appearance. Also starring will be the Four Step Brothers Junrio and Jacqueline Douget, French soubrette. Tall, blonde Sheilah Sparr will be Arden's"number one featured gal singer and highlighted as Lady Seraphing in one of the most lavish production numbers ever seen. ) This gal can sing, dance and has the makings of a real ' star. Remember the name as she will be heard from in the near future. <{| In another number reliable Kiki Paige will be seen as as Harry Richman. Some of the gal singers in this extravaganza of today* tomorrow and yesterday include Miss Paige, Penny PryorA Jeanne Costa, Betty Vaugh, Lillian d'Honau, Loretta \ John and Miss Hills. Male singers are Gordon Cornish, Gary Senned, Weiss, Wayne Albritton, Ken Urmston, Jim | Michaels and Christian Cardin. Standout male dancers I are Nick Navarro and Bernard Charey. The opening number is soul - spiritual, has some rock and also contains a Brazilian sound. In other numbers, I Arden also pays tribute to cities "where it's at," such 1 at Las Vegas, Hollywood, San Francisco, Chicago, Mem- ?√ß \ phis, St. Louis and New York. In the Chicago number, there is a night club show of I the roaring '20's, It contains the hunder of the '20's and one of the most exciting Arden has ever done in all his years in "show business. The finale finds Arden saluting Duke Ellington and offers the version of the old Cotton Club-today. This, in Arden's words, is a revue that is out of sight, is a hippy, happy trip and one which he hopes will sock it to 'em. It is full of jazz, baby and has the "cookin"' sound. D. 74,182 - S. 76,133) iuU2? $8* JKL Est. 1888 Unique Costume Designs Spark Vegas 'Pzazz 70' Completely new innovations in costume design will be revealed when the Desert Inn unveils its new musical superspectacular "Pzazz '70 and All That Jazz, Baby" July 10 in Las Vegas. Thousands of yards of fabric ranging from traditional weaves of silks, satins and velvets to the new vinyls, metal cloths and Cellophane synthetics have been used by designer Bill Campbell to develop a post-contemporary look in both the courturiere and theatrical sense. See-through fabrics have never been more daringly employed. Feathers, too! Campbell tied up the entire New York market to find enough of the rare quality pheasant feathers used 'in "Pzazz '70" and then had to go directly to the source in South Africa to get the particular kind of ostrich trim required for the extravaganza's finale. Each member of the cast has been signed by Frank Sennes: and Donn Arden for their attractiveness, musical b a c k- ground, whether vocally or in- strumentally, their dancing: style or form of comedy. And every member of the cast not only had to be personally; measured for their costumes but! also had to be photographed in; color in order to have the: Campbell designs reflect both! the artist's physical appearance; and personality. The physical types varied so much that it became necessary: to biograph each persoh and; part so that the costumes could be designed to totally project their roles. No other nightclub production j of the magnitude of "Pzazz '70"! has ever exercised such meticulous care to showcase the talents of its performers.
