I agree.FREEMAN COMPANY pub/ic/sts PLANNING 14-/16/57 J aek, Idea for NBC-TV color spectacular from Sands. 1. Mr. Tom Naud, NBC-TV producer friend of mine from the old Steve Allen show, called me today and discussed ideas for an hour color spectacular from the Sands for Saturday, June 22 between 9s00 and 10:00 PM, New York time, as a one-shot replacement for the Sid Caesar show. 2. He has a total budget of f50*000?? with talent costs estimated at $30,000 as part of the first sum. 3. The ideal setup, in Tom?╟╓s mind, would be three fairly big names, three CopaGirl production numbers and two second acts or lounge attractions. l|.. Tom talked as though he would like to see some of the other hotels involved in this, figuring that per- haps that way we could get top stars and still stay within the small budget allotted, inasmuch as the stars are already in Las Vegas. I pointed out the previous difficulties of getting these stars even though they were in town and, further, of coordinating the hotels, and I believe I impressed him with the idea that if we were to do this at all, it should be done under you as the producer and using the people you want and can get and still stay within budget?╟≤ jjy I told Tom you were in New York and why and asked him to call you to see if you would have any time to talk to him and perhaps start the wheels in motion, if you like the idea and think it could be done within the budget allotted. 6. This is the biggest budget we have yet been offered to work with, and I believe the chance to actually produce your own eolor spectacular, plus the promo- tional value for the Sands, is certainly worth trying to figure out a show within the NBC budget allotted.
