Plata 1, Aj shows the meter case, which is 3 inches in inside diameter and 36 inches long, and beside it the meter, which is 3 inches outside diameter and about 6 inches long, also the winch with about 1,000 feet of 0.09-inch steel cable resting upon the box into which it folds for moving. On the and of the cable is hanging an assembly consisting of bushings from four inches down to the l/8-inch packing gland. Plate 1, B, shows the Sund well on the Lindsay Estate while the pipe fittings were being removed. Plate 1, C shows the same well under control and the test in progress. In order to test the flowing wells that are under high pressure it was, of course, desirable to stop all flow from them at the surface. Some of the old fittings on the wells had not bean removed for many years and usually considerable trouble was experienced in removing these fittings so that the proper connections could be made. Por the test on the Sund well the elbow was unscrewed and replaced by an 9-inch collar. Above the collar, in order, were the following fittings: 6-inch O.D. to 4-inch I.D. bushing, short 4-inch nippl3, 4-inch Tee, four-foot length of standard 4-inch pipe, 4-inch collar, bushings from 4-inch to l/8-inch, l/8-inch packing gland, and a four-inch guide pulley. The main valve on the well was first closed and the meter was placed inside of the 4-inch pipe, after which the bushings at the top of the pipe were screwed in. After all connections were tight and the meter had been tested, the valve was opened and the meter was lowered into the well. In this manner it was possible to
