St^’homas,Nevada,Feb,1st, 1921 Mrs Sadie B,George Los Angeles,Cal Lear Madam Herewith. 1 enclose you receipt for payment in full of your portion of the water-commissioners salary for the year 1920 for service on the Muddy River, which you will note I have paid.in fill I settled the matter without consulting you, because it is a matter fy1 that cannot be avoided and felt sure it would meet with your approve pleae/ credit my account to the amount involved. would have the right to change a cost the place of about U der the state law you of u s e o f your portion of th# water in the stream.at $25.and it occurs to me that it might be a good thing for you to do because of the present status of the Governments fight over the water for the indians .It seems at this time that the said.fight will not % be settled for time ago,it is severall years to not possible for the as * explained to you some/ water commissioner to deliver the come; And water to your land ,because it haB to pass through the i&dians canals and he has no jurisdiction over said cannals,in fact the indian servi ce has just recentley thretened him with arrest if he comes on the reservation at all, hence you will see the ho^lessness of the present situation,in so far as being able to use the water upon your t , in the near future is concerned, for the amount is altogether to* justl fy you in condemning, a. right of way across the reservation and'nuildi ng a seperate ditch to your land as the cost is prohibitive. It is possible that I might be able to interest someone in uesing your portion of the water in this valley, upon lands of theirs which have no wa&erright, providing they, could lease it from you for three to five years ti$e,they to pay the cost of the transfers and a reasonable annuall r^tal for the water, under the terms of an agreement that would preserve the ownership of the water in you and also preserve your right to retransferr the water at the expiration of the lease, thereby ^ & e i n g the water earn enough to pay the taxes at least and possibley a little in addition thereto, please ddvise me if the proposition appeals to you,and if you care to have me take the matter up with some of the farmers here,or possibley you might preferr to let it rest untill Willard comes on in connection with the salt, as I have a letter from him stateing there is a probability of his be ing able to plaee the salt with New York Parties in the near future , regarding which ^ have written him this morning* Mr Gentries he1th is very poorley.and Mrs gentry is in the Salt Lake Hospital, where she underwent a very severe operation a week ago' thid mbrning,we were advised yesterday that her condition seemed favorable and we are hopeing for a favorable outcome and her speedey recoverey.Hopcing all is well with you and that the present year will prove a successful and happy one for you,I remain Very truly/yours
